Wacker gets a clean bill of health after Charlestown, TN, explosion

The Sept. 7, 2017 explosion at Wacker’s Charlestown, TN, polysilicon plant and subsequent shutdown was the result of equipment failure and the incident was unavoidable. And, the Tennessee Dept. of Environmental and Conservation report concluded: “it is unlikely that public health or the environmental were impacted. As a result, there will be no enforcement action taken for excess emissions resulting from the event.”
