Eskom still wants a 19.9% increase in power prices; will fight it out in court

Eskom hasn’t given up on its plans to institute a 19.9% increase in electricity costs for 2018/2019 after NERSA granted it only a 5.23% increase and the power company is going to court. Eskom is worried that with the much smaller increase it is no longer a going concern, while NERSA probably sees an increase of nearly 20% destroying the country’s basic industry.

This all comes at a time when Eskom has too much power and not enough paying users.
