Indian Cr mines face huge fines for overproduction

Indian chrome mines in Odisha are facing huge fines after the provincial government gave the miners notice. The companies affected include Tata Steel, Balasore Alloys, FACOR, IMFA, Jindal Stainless, B C Mohanty, Mishrilal Mines, PSU Odisha Mining, which is owned by the province, and IDCOL. The government wants Rs32-billion by May 10. The miners exceeded their production limits. Similar notices have been lodged against manganese miners. The chrome ore mines are evaluating their options.
