China imposes environmental taxes; costs expected to be passed along

China stepped up its environmental protection policies by instituting a new tax on air, water, solid waste and even noise. All the money raised by the tax will go to the local governments. While there will be national standards, the tax will be pegged to local production and costs of living and local conditions.  For example the tax in Jiangsu is eight times Gansu in terms of costs.

Most important is that there is a rock bottom tax nationally so everyone pays something regards. Obviously, the tax will be passed along to consumers.
