US steel shipments up

In October 2017, US steel mills shipped 7,710,777 tons, a 2%  increase from the 7,559,625 tons shipped in September 2017, and a 12.8% increase from the 6,832,801 tons shipped in October 2016, according to the AISI. Shipments year-to-date in 2017 are 76,138,524 net tons, a 4.8% increase vs. 2016 shipments of 72,635,819 tons for ten months.

A comparison of October shipments to September shows the following changes: hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, up 6%, cold rolled sheets, down 2% and hot rolled sheets, down 5%.
