Going after the major Si suppliers–Ferroglobe’s strategy

The news that Brazil will be charged with silicon metal dumping in the EU came out of nowhere. But, here are the statics.
In 2015 Brazil exported 47,856 mt and in 2016 exports rose to 75,703 mt. But in the first eight months of 2017 exports were 40,536 mt. The average price of the exports were E2,435 per mt in 2015, E1,835 in 2017 and E1,953 mt in the first eight months of 2017.
The Ferroglobe strategy is obvious–go after all the major “foreign” suppliers. The largest non-EU supplier is Norway, but the country is considered to be untouchable in the EU.
The complaint was dated Nov. 8, so it took awhile.
