China being flooded with chrome and chrome ore

Higher prices generally means more material, and that appears to be the case on China. Analysts are now predicting that between mid November and mid December more than 450,000 mt of high carbon and charge ferrochrome will arrive in Chinese ports. This is in the addition to a surge in Chinese imports of chrome ore, including UG2, of over 1.5-million mt during the same period.

Prices for high-carbon and charge chrome in China are now over $1.15 per lb, c.i.f., and even fines are being quoted over $1.
