The US Dept of Justice has started to contact market participants in the ferroalloy sector to learn more about the manganese market. The preliminary investigation is thought to center on DJJ’s possible deal to sell South 32 manganese products. Other US steel mills complained that the potential deal poses competitive risks since DJJ is owned by Nucor, the mills’ major competitor.

Should be VERY interesting.
