The latest urban scourge, on par with zika and alien invasion, is gentrification. Yes, people moving into a depressed urban area and spending time and money to fix it up. Some of the existing residents will sell and move out – hopefully after making a nice profit.
This, however, will change the “complexion” of the area and even worse it will be more expensive (after the newcomers spend money on improvements) for existing residents.
The real horror is that “real working people” won’t be able to move to the gentrified area since they will be priced out.
I can sympathize. I don’t know why I should live of Fifth Avenue in New York City. The rich made that dream impossible. I think that the government should mandate that I get a nice apartment and a “fair” price.
