11. The death of a salesman

The seller doesn’t have any easier. As the mills slip into BIG DATA, the ferroalloy producers will have to follow. As the data race grows more competitive, the suppliers will also up their game. When they respond to an RFQ, the number of options they give buyers will have to increase just to stay competitive.
The sellers will have to run the same data to see how all the options affect their bottom lines. And the sellers will have to give weight to the buyers—are they good players, do they play games with quality and quantity.
So what is the role of the new salesman?
